TMT steel calculator
Calculate the weight of TMT bars for any diameter and quantity, or prepare a preliminary estimate of the steel required for a building.

How these figures are calculated
The bar weight calculator uses the standard formula D²/162, which gives the nominal weight in kilograms per metre for a bar of diameter D millimetres.
The building estimator applies widely used industry thumb rules: approximately 3.5 to 4.0 kg of steel per square foot for independent houses, 4.0 to 4.5 kg for apartment buildings and 4.5 to 5.0 kg for commercial buildings. Actual consumption depends on structural design, soil conditions, spans and loading.
Please note: these results are preliminary estimates for budgeting only. Final quantities must be taken from the bar bending schedule prepared by your structural engineer. Share your schedule with us for an accurate, size-wise quotation.
